I can't help but wonder if Free isn't using this song to emphasize the necessity of conducting improvisational interpretations of her own lyrics. From this perspective, the colors are examples of abstract things that do not exist in reality. Instead of being real the colors are sensory experiences that represent a real object. In this regard, the interpretation of the colors are dependent on mindset of the observer.

Alternately, I think that the color 'red' may represent passion and anger while violet (a hue of blue) represents sorrow and inspiration.

To me the song seems to be about a rock star who feels empty and like he's living a lie while influencing the schools of "fishes" (the young generation) with his destructive value system. The theme strongly reminds me of musician Marilyn Manson and his brand of "I am the anti-Christ" centric "Shock Rock". The musician turns to drugs to fuel his passions and escape his inner emptiness. He's "cool" but lacks substance and feels empty inside ("the vacuum breeze").
