I'm getting married this summer and this song is on my wedding playlist (music for the reception). I can't help but think it's about getting married.
Parts of it seem to describe a wedding:
there's a path
there's a beach
there's a horseshoe crab
there's my brothers, my girlfriends
my mom, and my dad
& there's me
and that's all there needs to be
And other parts of it seem to describe settling down (lots of wandering imagery juxtaposed with "there are other ways I used to think to find my way around," i.e., changing wandering ways)
There are references to making a big commitment (and maybe having cold feet!)
"When there's only one thing I can do
Well you know that I still don't want to do
When there's just one way to get through
Sometimes I still don't want to go through with it"

It's such a joyful, celebratory, and honest song.
