this song sounds, to me, like he's speaking to someone that he has ended a relationship with. she's upset (please don't put your face into your hands) but he's trying to be sweet and wanting to start over. it just sounds like he's trying to be clever about it and skip the parable with things like 'we have many interests in common' and that's all it takes to be friends...but i don't think their can't be any context to this song because of the 'please don't put your face into your hands' line. i don't see why anyone would do that at such a suggestion unless there was history.
