Beautiful song! Im so glad Avril Lavigne put this on her new album :) Anyways, my interpretation of the song is that she is singing to a girl who is going through a difficult time in her life. Im assuming it might be some sort of abuse (ìts not your fault). It could also be depression (I wish you could be happy instead). Then Avril says that (youre not the only one - Ive been there alone and now so are you), so that means she also went through whatever this girl is going through. Avril could also be reflecting on past, younger self, and talking to her in that sense. Like going into the past and telling her to love herself, and that its going to be okay. That she can now move on and be happy.
