I think Thom Yorke is the sort to always be trying to change the world and rescue drowning Polar Bears with his "I'm-a-musician" superpowers. Seems like he's always trying to get across something profound on a level deeper than his own personal torments. This makes me think he is trying to relate the story of Siddhartha the listener. Perhaps suggesting we should all open out eyes to all the poverty and injustice in the world as he (Siddhartha) did. Once he was enlightened to the idea that everyone is not a fancy Prince who gets to live in a fancy palace, the journey to becoming Buddha began (ie. blooming of the Lotus).
Seems to me like Thom is trying to tell us all about that "empty space in our heart" (from superficial material possessions, like Siddhartha) and to let our own Lotuses (Loti? haha) bloom.
That interpretation sounds more like something Thom would've written. It suggests temptation and in the same time tempts us too... to do what, exactly? I gave up on trying to understand their lyrics a long time ago. It's enough that somehow it makes sense, even just one line of the entire song.

I get it quite like Derp described it. Just the part referring to poverty and injustice differs a bit: for me Thom refers to something much closer than that --- it's about overcoming the sleep that each and everyone of us of us carries inside (habits, manias, identifications, weaknesses, lies, addictions, ignorances, time-wasters).

Many relate the "shape myself into your pocket" part to a partner. It could be, but for me it is about humbleness, about letting go of ego control (which is an illusion anyway) and definitely surrending. This can happen through a lover, through hard work, through having...

It could be, but for me it is about humbleness, about letting go of ego control (which is an illusion anyway) and definitely surrending. This can happen through a lover, through hard work, through having a child, through fighting for a cause... the object of inner delivery doesn't really matter, what matters is honest surrender: the ego shrinks over and over, and disappears.
That is real freedom. Not freedom to do a thousand different things, but freedom from the confusing inner kicks that appeal to us searching fulfillment in the outside world, where we won't ultimately find it.
"Listen to your heart". Only there we'll be able to find it.
Glad to see people thinking about what this means. Even adding and discussing what I had to say about it. I listen to this album a lot and each time I notice more and more the farther I dig down, I hope you all do too. What is so great about this song, and most of their songs in general, is that it really can be interpreted however you want. Something one certainly can't do with most music which has come out recently. What do you guys think "Friday" means? So few artists who I feel put legitimate amounts of...

Lotuses is correct, so is Loti.

I think your interpretation is the best one here. It makes a lot of sense, and like you said it really mirrors his personality.
