I really do not think this is a break up song guys. He was in a relationship with the backing singer Laura Marling during the making of this album. It was only after this album was released that he split with her and went into his break up phase for the writing of The First Days of Spring album... So I think its about meeting her and "losing his heart and letting love grow" and he thought he would never find love again but "when love comes a-calling dont forget the tune"....
