Cover art for Gasp lyrics by Japanese Cartoon

Lupe Fiasco: "'GASP' was about how we live lives of privilege. You look at China and there are a million millionaires, there's all this great advancement, and all these skyscrapers, but it's built on the backs of hundreds of millions of poor people. And that's magnified all over the world. You look at the opulence of the few who sit at the top. But then you look at the bottom and it's just massive poverty. For some people it's surprising and when you're surprised, you gasp. And that song is about looking at how everything that you have is made on the backs of the exploited, the oppressed, the slaves, the little kids that make 10 cents a week. Life needs gasps. You need those moments of awakening."

He went on to say that this song is the one that sets the bar for any future works by the band. You can read the lyrics and the quotes in the description of this video of the song(where I got them): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlPB5knYFik

So, I guess that's that. Great song, though. The second verse is amazingly good. I hope they continue on and make more music. I think they could be really good if Lupe stops trying to sound British, as this song shows.
