The Dream world is a spiritual state and is the closest thing that humans have to understanding the sublime (the infinity that is the entirety of the universe, which is by definition unknowable), which is both monstrous and beautiful; ie. "scary place" and "closer to the truth". Just read Kant's work on the sublime, It can be a tough read but very worth while.
