If the speaker in this were the church, it would be them/the church asking this simple boy, (Where's your god, where's your god at, alone). Perhaps alienating him? We already know that to be "awake" is lonely, and it could be hard to turn people around when you're being stigmatized / discriminated against.
Followed by him saying "Leave me alone" because he doesn't want to be alienated from everyone in turn to just mind his own business and help people without their interference.
