To me this song sounds like a person - singing to a person whom he / she had has let down due to weakness/inability.
Though the singer respect the other person a lot, due to what ever they have done in the past, the singer is unable to face the
other person (who can be a friend / lover). He is unable to go to the place where he/she is.
I could say this is about a feeling of embarrassment and guilt.
