Such a great song!!! I'm not the most expert fan of KC, but I like it a lot. So, I may be wrong but I think the song, as well as the whole album - homonym -, is based on there being "three sides to every story", representing "He, She, and They".
I love this song because a friend of mine is a really big fan of KC and once we were listening to it and he said: "that's always been our trouble in our relationship". Meaning that both of us are always in love with each other but at the same time with ourselves.
So, as always, it can be as much meaning as listeners.
