I think that this song is about a girl who is caught in the dilemma's of bad relationship. 'he is a dog,but he's dressed up like a sheep', pretty straight forward, the person who she is singing about is obviously concealing themselves behind innocence (sheep), and she has found out that he has a bad history/is a bad person (bones all through the backyard - hidden secrets) Sometimes when i listen to it i think she is singing about a serial killer or a murderer(The lady living next door Well she's 6 feet under the dirt) but i think she has just used this as a metaphor for a person she has been messed up in with.

The part when she is talking about her dad could be referring to how she is seeking guidance, safety from this bad relationship, but like all of us we grow up and our parents need to stop protecting us, i think its based around that concept.
