It's that epic section with "the trains were 15 minutes late" that adds the feeling that the trains being late is more important than the person committing suicide.
What Protest are saying is this is wrong, making "C'est la Vie" or "That's the life" (or something similar) a sarcastic statement.

For me this is the most powerful line. People prefer death or "the slaughter" than suffer the pain of life.
