I saw Neil Fallon say in an interview once as soon as you get "red-faced" in a debate of politics or religion there's no longer any value in the debate; it's just an argument. Obviously that's correct, and it's something more people need to have the maturity to realize. Just go look at the discussion for "When Vegans Attack." Neil often uses humor like this to keep things lighthearted while still discussing philosophical shit. Personally, I don't think it's a band's job to preach; it's their job to entertain me. And that is why I love Clutch.
