i've noticed you're loneliest when your trying to fall asleep, unsuccessfully
you're tired as hell, but sleep won't come, so your mind races and your subconcious dregs up all this unwanted unpleasantness "can't take this really can't finish this" and "it's my mistake i'll make it... chemical cutt-throats bout to blow this brain out"
despearation? suicidal thoughts?
the part where noodle is singing i think is the crux of the song because:
a)the beat slows
b)she starts singing representing a point of contradiction (a dude rapping vs a girl singing)
c)the words seem to have more emphasis because they are sung out instead of rapidly rapped out
back to the desperate and lonely theory

when you're at your lonliest you are kinda hopeless and that all comes out in the dark, the dark of the night and the dark when your brain is at its weakest so you think that all that stuff you aren't proud of you cant really believe that you'll ever be anything more and these thoughts don't leave when the sunlight comes so you're stuck with these haunting thoughts of inadequacy
