The way I see it is that this song is about a murder.

His mom telling him not to run could be symbolism for not getting into trouble in general, and "It takes a man to keep them hungry" is saying that if he's in jail there won't be anybody to bring food to the table.

He's saying he's cold because he's hiding and "If this blood don't turn to cold, I think I'm doomed" Blood as in "I have blood on my hands" and to gold might be saying he killed the man during some attempt to make money and if the situation doesn't magically change tohow he intended it to be he's going to go to jail for the rest of his life or "doomed"

The last verse is him saying farewell to a close friend or lover and giving them a gun and a message to prepare them for whoever is coming after him, and he's hoping they figure the message out.
