i dont know if it has to be that literal, the moses basket could be a beginning or the start of anything not just birth, it seems to me that that the parties involved have some sort of emotional attachment that may be more one sided than equal, this could be a final confrontation a do or die type situation, the person taking advantage may realize that theyd been wrong to be so superficial or selfish "from this moses basket i shouldve felt something" i see it as " from the start, i shouldve tried" they regret not giving what they had to build whatever the relationship may be, fade all color from my skin to reflect from within could be a final plea from the deceived to start right now and try to work it out, i see this song as a general reconciliation between two people, no matter how far gone, theres always a chance to redeem but at a point one of them may be done with trying "shall i free it, shall i be it come down see them die slow"
