I was fortunate enough to see Sonata Arctica live in January 2010, before performing this song, Tony explained that it highlights the importance of a friend or partner who you can rely on in your time of need... a companion who's not concerned with what other people are saying, because they trust and believe in you... the type of person who will stand by you, when no one else does.
The song isn't about the end of the world, or anything along those lines. My guess is the line "as if the world wasn't ending" simply refers to the overreactions of the people calling him a fool. They make a mountain out of a molehill, so to speak. He and his partner ("my love") spend time away from their usual group or area ("take me where I cannot hear the people calling me"), until the commotion has settled down and it's safe for him to show his face again ("until everyone sees that I'm right").
Basically, it's all about having a close friend or partner who will look after you... support you.
