I don't agree that it shows a hate for Lindy, but more a hate for the spotlight. The lines "You've scared me from me" and "sharing me with your light" suggest that John is of the opinion that he cannot write and flourish as a musician, making the most of his considerable talents while so many people are chasing after him, and this scares him, as the first quote suggests. I believe he refers to fame as a "splinter" in his neck, the success clouding his ability as a musician, so overall my interpretation is that John here feels alienated by the fame, and the poor relationship with the tour manager Lindy is but a side-effect of this.
