I think the prominence of the guitar and the toned back string section gave the record a different kind of power than, say, "Born into trouble..." in that it is an angrier sound. Almost more active in its despair and hopefulness...or...no...I should just say...it's got more of a punk feel to it. Yeah, angrier is a good word. Previous records were no doubt full of rage the good kind, but they were offset by the mournful beauty of their string arrangements. They approached their music differently here, and to good effect. I think if you want strings you should just listen to "BITATSFU" or "HHLUABSOLSGTCOOR"...If you are angry, if you need motivation to go to those barricades, as so few of us have gone, this is the record for you. I could go on more coherently but scotch! Scotch is impeding my ability to do so. Also, I love turning Silver Mt. Zion records into acronyms....utterly pointless.
This song is beautiful and tragic, as most of their tunes, and is an indicting mirror held up to our world and ourselves.
