Such power in that line. Hayley is obviously singing from a depressed point of view as saying the rain touches everything means that everything in her life is dreary since whatever bad thing happened.
I think it's about someone committing suicide, mainly because of the line "You made yourself a bed at the bottom of the blackest hole" and that sounds like someone is in a grave now and it was by their choice.
I agree w/ you with the exception of suicide. Making a bed means to be stuck in a situation. At the bottom of a hole simply infers a difficult; unpleasant; hopeless-perhaps situation. I don't believe it's a song about suicide; it's not that hopeless since s/he's waiting for an explanation.
