I was with my guy for almost 3 years. Midway through, I meet this guy who blows me away. Still, to this day is the most amazing guy. My (now ex)bf treated me badly, never understood me, generally pushed me away, tried to force me into things... This guy I met a tthe beginning of uni, was the opposite. He's just perfectly imperfect. That makes no sense. I screwed up, broke up with me ex but went back to him instead of moving on to someone better. As Tyson Ritter says in "Damn Girl", that "better man". I missed out on him.
A week after I got back with my ex, he got with his now girlfriend. It's been 13 months. Now my ex broke up with me in August, and I'm stuck being distant from my best friend I'm in love with.

That's how I twist it.
And that's what I've been doing lately, a lot of things in this song ring so true wanting someone you once had/could have had, and dearly miss, or want back. But you know it's real life not a movie, and he's not going to come back.
That's why I like this. It's not a movie script, it's reality. One of my favs on Speak Now. With that said I adore the entire album. Some songs had to grow on me, but now... :)
