That is why Dio is so amazing; that he was able to write a great song with great feeling towards gay teens that are going through a lot of issues themselves. Dio is saying that its okay to be gay and if those that are supposed to support you turn against you because of your orientation then you need to leave them behind. Dio made everyone feel appreciated and loved, and im glad that he had the spirit to write a song like this
