Anyways, I interpreted this the same way he did: these people in a relationship get in really bad fights, most of these fights being instigated by the girl, who is most likely a bit abusive. The fights are so bad to the point where they are nearly through with each other, but they keep doing it all over again. The guy picks himself back up so it can happen... over and over again.
