I've always thought this song was more of a long distance relationship thing, or maybe that's just how I want to see it that way. Anayways, it sems to me more like a thing where he usually comes to visit her and the "should ever we meet on your side of the stereo" part was if she ever came to his place and saw his friends and all that. When she isn't around him, she smooths over the bumpy parts and he seems so perfect, even though hes really not. She has a song on repeat that reminds her of him, and feels as though she can hear his heartbeat.
