For me this song is about hopelessness... "it" refers to the ring. All the adjectives (mesmerized, hypnotized, captivated, overwhelmed, isolated, motivated) are referring to this same object that represents his (my) hopelessness. (in short, the woman he loves married someone else)

Basically you have to be a raging ego maniac to hold onto a woman. And the bible thumpers think evolution is a fallacy...

Theres no proof of darwinism, if so you're welcome to give me one actual proof of one creature turning into another creature, or morphing, whichever word you'd prefer.

I have really liked the song ever since it came out and makes an occasional appearance on my Playlists. I came here to look at people interpretations because last time I listened to this song the lyrics were on the screen and actually analyzing them as the song played I became quite emotional.
