And he's niceand she's willing to take full advantage.... Unbeknowest to her, he's not actually as innocent as he seems. "words are cheap, so I'll sell you a line" (btw, all of this song is so amazing with all the damn puns and turn of phrase it's ridiculous how good the writing is) he's talking about showing his true nature "like the way you acted that night".. He doesn't point out a specific night for no reason, obviously everything she said or did was just for show. And it set him off to return the favor... "if second best is what you want, then it won't cost you that much but me" (self expainatory) she can have her way, which isn't him and he is the best option... So anything she chooses other than him will only be second best...
