Every time I hear this song, I think of the WWII novel, "Requiem". It's about a little girl (named Eva) and how she tries to survive during the Holocaust. Eventually, she befriends a soldier of the SS whom protects her for as long as he can, while she teaches him that she believes there is good in everyone. Just the line "the good in her will be my sunflower field" alone reminds me of the soldier's thoughts after Eva passes on. (Sunflowers were also very sought after by the Germans in WWII, the oils to keep their guns working, etc.)
A beautiful song. A great book. They just remind me so much of each other... I wonder if the song had anything to do with the book.
