Personally I think Darby might've actually been commented on the Gay S&M Leather scene. As a gay male, he was probably aware of this subculture-- in fact, considering he contributed a song, "Lion's Share" to the soundtrack of a movie ABOUT leathermen (cruising), he HAD to have known what it was. I think this song might be about Darby expressing his attraction to Leather/S&M and his repulsion from it at the same time.
