This has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I think its describing the Silmarils, but not everything makes complete sense. The part:

"As no one talked, no one else could know the thought that day- the stolen promises that thundered through the dark sky. The Scared Stones had been hidden 700 years, and now the spell had been broken.

They say that thousands or millions they had walked the earth. They traveled East in the greatest known migration. The Sacred Stones had been diamonds cascading from the sky to forge these words here now spoken..."

seems to fit with this I found from the lotr wiki:

"At some time early in the Second Age, Celeborn and Galadriel are said to have moved eastward into Eriador with a number of Elves in their following. They may have lived for a while near Lake Evendim. Their daughter Celebrian may have been born during this time. They began to move eastward again around the year SA 700 of the Second Age because Galadriel sensed a growing evil in Middle-earth that she felt duty-bound to oppose."

As for the rest of it, it's pretty universal.
