I see it as a song about a best friend who has died. A friend who was like an older brother, but couldn't "stay just one more night". Although personally that's a tad morbid for my liking, as I really adore this song and dont think it's overly depressed...which is why he says 'dont worry i'm not sad' i suppose. Still, great song.
