My feelings on it. Two people were together, something happened between them for them to mutually break it off for the best for both of them.
The guy regretted it and wanted her back for a long time she didnt recipitate, perhaps got a rebound and then realised that she still loved him, but shes so indecisive on what she has with the new person "the security etc" and the first love so to speak and the planned life with the ex. So sad, but I think its based on her indecision, and perhaps feeling like she loves both partners.
