Actually heard that this was about Keith and Donna leaving the band in 1979. Donna is from Alabama and it was said that she could be tough to deal with back in her hazy, crazy drugged out days. Keith and Donna's last show was in early '79 and the song was written later that year. Just food for thought.
@easyjim1967 Interesting/plausible. My first show was Jan '79 in Utica, NY. Tension betw Donna/Keith and the rest of the band. After the show, I heard (but obviously hadn't seen) that Keith popped a fan's balloon, and Phil gave Keith a real dirty look. Who knows.
