I'm getting pretty disappointed no one has pointed out the fact that the chorus is a direct reference to the poem "A Dream Within a Dream" by Edgar Allan Poe.

I mean:

And I'll be here by the ocean Just waiting for proof that there's Sunsets and silhouette dreams All my sand castles fall Like the ashes of cigarettes And every waves drags me to sea I could stand here for hours Just to ask God the question Is everyone here make-believe?

I stand amid the roar Of a surf-tormented shore, And I hold within my hand Grains of the golden sand- How few! yet how they creep Through my fingers to the deep, While I weep- while I weep!
