To me it's about a couple who both are addicted to drugs. They are co-dependent to each other (Twisted, living off each others sickness, like parasites), afraid to be brave and get help, so they stay in a very unhealthy relationship.
"There’s so much world to see, what’s stoppin’ you/me from flyin’ free?"
Afraid of losing the one they love. Yet their insecurities enable them to love each other more than they love themselves, so they keep feeding the vicious cycle of addiction and co-dependency.
Even though its torture living an addicted lifestyle.. yet its paradise to them because they dont know anything better. They feel secure and not so alone.
Addicted, afraid to take control of my own life.. Being addicted to something while being single is hard enough.. Most addicts are afraid of change. Most don't remember what its like to be sober or to have a managable lifestyle. But once you're in a relationship who is an addict, it's 10 times harder. You think you're goonna die. Losing the one you love to take a step to love yourself. And once you realize you want to love yourself more than you love that someone else it can happen... And you can finally be free... because really there is so much world to see.
This is how I relate to this song.. I've been through it, and it really fucken sucks.. But Eyedea illustrates it beautifully.
