This song is about how someone blew it on an opportunity for a relationship and now they are whining about it and accusing the other of lying when that person was honest from Day 1. The other person built everything up in their mind then when their fantasy did not come true, they blame the person they fantasized about. The only person lying is the one who lied to himself or herself [obviously herself in this song's lyrics] by creating something in their mind that never existed. The person with the fantasy was given ample opportunities and did not take a chance. Now that the door is closed permanently, the person regrets having never taken a chance and instead of realizing it, blames the object of affection for the pain. The narrator is calling the person out on the whining..."You don't need no one. Don't act like you're under a gun" and saying it's not the end of the world because the person is young and can and will move on "Cause baby, you're much too young". They should have taken the chance but their last chance has come and gone. Essentially, strike while the iron is hot or don't whine about losing what you could have had. It is your own fault.
