There are a few things disagreeable with your post..

This would seem to imply that the whole thing didn't really happen.. it was all a daydream.. plus this kind of thing happens a lot in movies, who says it can't happen in a song

The man probably did invite her the lyrics say UNIVITED. Meaning the BRIDE took her off the guest list.
