The song is about a boy who is dreaming. I think i read somewhere or heard an interview where is says Jesse wrote the song about a dream he had, or dreams in general.
The boy in the song was just talking to a girl on the phone and he ended the conversation probably a little early...(let her off the hook too easy, therefore she hung up also (more hang ups i get...))
The entire song is about how the boy is head over heels over this girl and can't stop thinking about her (pretty obvious)...
Then the song references Japanese boat building, etc....this is including how when you're dreaming about something....minutes later you'll realize you're dreaming about something entirely different (maybe its just me? lol), like dream A.D.D....the two dreams merge and its the girl building a boat with some japanese themes included.
only part i dont get is the last verse, about how she won't stay true. maybe he's just worried too much because he's so in love with her...
