Sorry if this bugs everyone (I know people who think a lot of their songs are about relationships bother me) but I think it could be interpreted as he's never able to hold on to a relationship.

In my eyes Closed and jaded It's no surprise The lights have faded

(The lights have faded, as in, the sparks are gone and it's starting to look kind of dim.)

I always walk away

(He's always the one to walk away in the relationship because he knows it won't work out.)

You'll always hear me say

I don't need this

(When they're threatening to leave each other, he doesn't have to stand and here her insult him, it's not going to work out anyway, so why fight about it?)

I've been given such a gift Shame to take advantage of it

(the gift being either 1. the fact none of his relationships work out, and taking advantage of that (getting women just to sleep with them, without the commitment) would be wrong OR 2. the gift is his girlfriend and he knows it's going to end one day and knows it would be wrong to try and fall in love with her and end up breaking both of their hearts)

What did wasting lead to wanting more

(Wasting a relationship makes him want another, maybe another chance to make it last.)

Be careful what you're wishing for

(If he wishes for a lasting relationship, he might find out that it's probably better that he just stay in relationships that won't work)

Nothing that I can't Hold onto my broken hands

(Can't hold on to a relationship.)

I'm not thinking that I should anyway

(Obviously if he can't, that may be a sing that he just wasn't meant to and that it's for the better.)

So I Don't care what you say

(He doesn't care what she says [kinda vague] because one day she'll be gone and won't matter.)

Cause it makes no difference if I throw it away Yeah it makes no difference if I throw it away

(It doesn't matter if he decides to walk away now, just because he knows it won't work, instead of waiting and letting the relationship naturally dissipate, because he'll leave one day anyway.)

Now my days Are feeling numbered

(He can tell the end of the relationship is coming near.)

The sad cliche I'm hiding

(Hoping that maybe he'll find 'the one' [which is cliche] and sad because he knows there a slim to none chance.)

under this spiderweb of dreams I'm stuck here as it seems to be breaking

(His dreams of finding 'the one' are being ruined and he can't do anything, because it will end with or without his help.)

Shining brighter than you were Something that I would never learn I could never lay this curse on you Cursing the days when there's

(He would never learn to stop trying to fall in love, and he feels bad for putting part of the curse on the girls who fall in love with him, only to be left in the end.)

Nothing that I can't Hold onto with my broken hands I'm not thinking that I should anyway So I Don't care what you say Cause it makes no difference if I throw it away Cause it makes no difference if I throw it away Yeah it makes no difference if I throw it away

Yup. That's most definitely not what it's about, but I think music is taking into your own interpretation and applying it to your own life/situation, so it's just one way to do that.
