To me, this song is about a man finding courage through woman's love.

In the same stanza, the phrase "And take it to the limit one more time" seems to refer to what the singer himself would do, if he were given the sign. He would "take it to the limit." that is, he would do his best (whatever he was pursuing).
In the next stanza, the singer ponders his options ("You can spend all your time making money ... You can spend all your love making time.")
