I was actually at a Relient K concert last night and Matt Thiessen said that this song was about how he always thought he needed a girlfriend and basically now he knows he doesn't need one to make him happy.
Yep, I was at a concert on September 25th and that's what he explained it as. How he can be happy being alone, and not having a girlfriend.
