The whole idea behind the song is quite simple
around the time USA was first discovered,
they were giving land away to whichever white got there first.
The guy goes there, makes enough money to provide for his family back home
(presumably England or Ireland) and finally races for the land and wins it.
And they all live happily ever after.
On a personal note, I dont think this album is better or worse than their previous ones,
I just think its different. A band cant have the same sound all the way through.
They have to vary it once in a while. I like it anyway.
