I think I can relate to this, now that I'm at college and have changed residences. I see now what people mean when they say that everything changes when you go to college. Before I left, my hometown was such a place of solace and home that I could never imagine being anywhere else. Now everytime I visit, it just seems fake and plastic. It's not the town I remember. It's a strange feeling, but a very real one. I think this song could be about a similar experience, of going back home to a sense of dissapointment.
