i agree with the death statements, however, i believe it is more specifically a suicide.
the lines "nobody has to to stay, but we wish they would anyway" say to me that people have the option of staying or going, but we would prefer that they stay.
and the lines "sister make a flower place, a mother, father, brother grace" kind of seem to me that the person who died was younger. not many funeral include both the siblings and the parents unless the death was premature, which is usually suicide in cases of younger people. the line "sister make a flower place" just kind of gently paints the image of maybe a younger sister for some reason.
i also know mirah is from washington state, where the suicide rate there in unbelievably high (in seattle, particularly)
