This speaks to me. I'm not sure why. But what I take from it, is that the 'dawning of personal belonging' is a metaphor for how everyone can have an opinion without being criticized for it. Our own personal belonging can shine now. Also, 'this is the eve of "I don't believe'... It seems like it could be referring to religion. It's down in number from what it was 50, even 10 years ago. The advent of technology as well as science has made religion squirm and most people 'don't believe' anymore. And that is something that 'we all got in common'...
