Lyric discussion by whitl103

First off, I believe the chorus is:

"Yeah you can write me a love letter but there's nothing to say I don't wanna take a chance on your paper romance anyway

Yeah you can love me up much better If you come our way I don't wanna take a chance on your paper romance anyway"

To me, this song is about the love of money and material possessions. He doesn't want to risk selling his soul for money. He would be much more inclined to love it if he got rich, but it's not worth taking that chance. Confused creatures come alive in the electrified city streets with all of the glitz and glamor and things that seem real and valuable.

"The time it takes for us to change it's gonna happen anyway"

I love this line. I think he's saying by the time we as a society give up this self-destructive love of material wealth, society will have already self-destructed and we will have started over.

Beautiful song, I could be off base but this is what is in my heart every time I hear the song.

After listening closely to a live version played on BBC6, I think this is correct: "yeah you can rub me off much better if you come our way"

nice song
