i think its about a number of things. its about numbing oneself with alcohol... the song is about a person who is out all night partying but thats not what wants. its " not not the way I want my story to end".
i am up high . its symbolic for being out of reach and thus so is safe cause nothing/ no one can touch her. she is avoiding love by being "high". might also refer to drugs and alcohol. they are her protectors from feeling. but why "can't i fee this good sober"
