I think it's about people with broken hearts coming together and their past heart break helps sorta fit them together and make them right for eachother. Kind of a message of how every heartbreak gets you closer to the one. Also I like the part about running barefoot in the night. Kinda makes me think of the spontaneous whimsy of a new relationship.
