I agree mostly with oxconversexo, however I disagree with the interpretation of "papercut." I personally think the narrator uses the term because while it is a small, "insignificant" injury, it hurts like a bitch. It's been said that a papercut hurts more than anything else. So I think by calling this heartbreak a papercut, she's saying that it was a "small, insignificant" relationship or breakup or whatever, but it hurts more than she's willing to admit.

Also, I love the line "I forget that it's there." Taken literally, one can forget they have a papercut, but they're always reminded sometime when it's hit or pulled apart or gets something in it. But I think she intends for this line to be almost sarcastic - or maybe just defensive. As if she's thinking, "You're always on my mind and I'm not okay, but there is no chance that I am going to let you see that."
