i don't think it's about someone who's depressed, i think the song is about someone who's moody on purpose
and the person singing the song is quite an optimistic person (which is why the song's quite upbeat) who's maybe tired of trying to cheer them up and is just not bothered and a bit sarcastic towards them now...
it does remind me a lot of House, and a little bit of Lockwood's (is that his name? i haven't read the book in aaages) first impression of Heathcliffe in Wuthering Heights
